Experience the Glory of the USS Battleship NORTH CAROLINA

Sitting regally in the waters of the Cape Fear River, the USS Battleship NORTH CAROLINA awaits your visit. Visitors are able to walk along this historic WWII ship’s decks, explore the crew’s quarters, galley, sick bay, engine and plotting rooms and radio central. Visitors can even steer the ship, start her engines or pretend to fire her guns.

As you explore, envision the daily life of her crew as they bravely fought in the Pacific during WWII. The USS Battleship NORTH CAROLINA “became the first of ten fast battleships to join the American fleet in World War II.” At the time she was built in 1941, she was considered the world’s greatest sea weapon. During her wartime service, she participated in every major naval offensive in the Pacific earning 15 battle stars for her service. She was decommissioned in 1947 and has been in her current home since 1961.

The Battleship is open every day of the year, including all holidays. Summer hours: Memorial Day - Labor Day from 8:00 am – 8:00 pm, except on Independence Day when the ship closes at 6:00 pm for fireworks. Winter hours: open the Tuesday after Labor Day through the Thursday before Memorial Day from 8:00 am – 5:00 pm, except Christmas Day when the ship opens at noon. Ticket sales end one hour before closing time.

Your tour of Battleship NORTH CAROLINA is self-guided and easy to follow so that you can move at your own pace. Visitors should allow about two hours exploring the ship. The USS Battleship North Carolina is located at #1 Battleship Road, Wilmington, NC 28401 for easy GPS navigation.

Ticket prices for adults (12 and over) are $12.00, seniors 65 and over and those with military ID are $10.00, children ages 6-11 years old are $6.00, children under 5 are free.
