Guest Pick: Favorite Attraction at Broadway at the Beach

03/21/2016
Anyone who has been to Myrtle Beach has surely heard of our family friendly mecca – Broadway at the Beach. This outdoor venue features plenty of attractions, shopping, and dining to keep any family busy for an entire day! Great for a day when you want to take a break from the beach or for when you get stuck with a rare rainy beach day, Broadway truly offers something for everyone.
Curious about what this popular family spot has to offer?

We asked our Facebook fans what their favorite part about Broadway at the Beach was and this is what they had to say…

“Ripley’s Aquarium!” – Debbie.

Nice choice, Debbie! The Ripley’s Aquarium offers over 85,000 square feet of space – an impressive amount for an indoor attraction. The aquarium itself features several themed exhibits including the “Rio Ripley's Aquarium Myrtle BeachAmazon”, “Rainbow Rock” where guests can meet familiar faces like characters in the Disney movie Finding Nemo, and the famous “Dangerous Reef” where visitors ride a glidepath through an underwater tunnel filled with sharks! Other aquarium draws include several touch tanks, a discovery center, an on-site café, and the gift shop. Call (843) 734-8888 for more information.

“Baseball at the Pelicans stadium” – Chris.

Perfect timing, Chris. The Myrtle Beach Pelicans, formerly of the Texas Rangers, are not a minor league affiliate of the Chicago Cubs and their season kicks off in just a few weeks! Families and locals alike love grabbing tickets to a Pelicans game because it’s cheap and a great way to entertain the whole family for an evening. The Pelicans do a great job of providing between-inning entertainment to keep everyone busy and they also offer great weekly promotions like “Weiner Wednesday” ($1 hotdogs), “$2Day BrewsDay ($2 craft beer drafts from 6-8), and scheduled post-game fireworks. Call (843) 918-6000 for more information.

“The Magic Show at Palace Theatre.” – Connie.

As Connie mentioned, the magic show at the Palace Theatre is a popular draw for families during the summer. For the past several seasons, Palace Theatre has offered new and exciting shows for families centered around a “magic” theme. This year, Palace is featuring a brand new cast and crew for the “Cirque Extreme” show that promises to be bigger and better than ever! This award winning family-friendly show includes heart pounding danger acts like The Wheel of Destiny and the Globe of Doom, in addition to plenty of comedy and dancing in between to keep you on the edge of your seat. Call (843) 448-9224 for more information.

“Mini Golf” – Stefanie.

Yes – Broadway at the Beach even offers putt putt and the elaborate course is hard to miss! Dragon’s Lair Fantasy Golf offers two 18-hole courses that are set in a magical kingdom backdrop. Players will golf through castles, on ships, around water features, and through obstacles as they work their way towards the finish. Be on the lookout for Sir Alfred, the friendly fire-breathing dragon that keeps watch over the kingdom.

These are just a few of the many, many exciting attractions that Broadway at the Beach has to offer.
Additionally, Broadway is always adding more fun to the mix, including “Dinosaurs The Exhibition” which is opening for the summer of 2015 – stay tuned for more news on dates and prices.

We also had several guests comment on specific Broadway at the Beach Restaurants that they look forward to each year:

“Margaritaville!” – John.

Jimmy Buffet approves of this choice, John. Guests love to kick back and relax at this popular beach destination. Margaritaville offers scrumptious island inspired eats and juicy hand-pressed burgers that are hard to  Margaritaville Myrtle Beachbeat. Selections include fish tacos, crispy coconut shrimp, “drunken” shrimp skillet, Landshark Lager fish & chips, and their famous “Burgers in Paradise”. And, of course, it wouldn’t be a trip to Margaritaville without their signature homemade drinks! Guests can choose from over 12 unique margaritas and “boat drinks”. Call (843) 448-5455 for more information.

“Johnny Rockets!” – Paula.

Johnny Rockets, the home of “the original hamburger”, is a favorite of many, Paula. This upbeat eatery offers a classic and authentic American diner feel and the tasty cuisine to match. Menu items are lighthearted (and light on the wallet) and include a variety of melts, cheese steaks, gourmet hot dogs, salads, starters, and scrumptious diner style burgers. Be sure to save room for one of Johnny Rocket’s signature shakes or floats! The fast, friendly service and nostalgic atmosphere are a great way to keep the family happy while on vacation. Call (843) 448-8575 for more information.

“Chuck & Duck’s” – Steve.

Sports fanatics or families looking for a fun, casual spot to grab some great grub are sure to love Chuck & Duck’s Sports Bar and Grill just as much as Chris does! A more recent addition to the culinary lineup, Chuck & Duck’s serves up great food and a lively atmosphere. The restaurant offers a spacious outdoor patio, perfect for spring and summer beach weather, in addition to tons of high definition TVs that are great for game day. The menu offers an eclectic selection of appetizers, sandwiches and wraps, burgers, baskets, salads, and entrees, making it easy to please even the pickiest palate.
