Wine fest is one of the best things to do in myrtle beach in september

Another summer has passed and fall is knocking on the door…but that doesn’t mean the fun stops here in Myrtle Beach! September is a favorite month to visit The Coral Beach Resort for many of our guests. The weather is still nice, the kids are back to school, and the Myrtle Beach area activities are still endless and fun! So sit back, relax (and maybe start packing your vacation bags) because we’ve put together a list for you of the best things to do in Myrtle Beach in September.

NASCAR Racing Experience Pace Car Rides – Ongoing

Nothing says classic quite like NASCAR and happening every Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday in September you can sit back and hold-on while taking 3 laps around the “Historic” Myrtle Beach Speedway in the NASCAR Racing Experience Pace Car. Passengers can ride one in the front and two in the back as a professional racing instructor drives the track. Walk-ups are welcome but you can also book your reservation ahead of time or call 843-236-0500 for more information.

Sounds of Summer Concert – May through September

Enjoy an evening with your friends and family listening to live music by the Wildflowers Band (a Tom Petty Tribute band) at an amphitheater under the stars. Bring your beach chair or blanket and sit back and relax! Snacks and drinks will be available for purchase but cooler and outside food and beverages are not allowed. The concert is free and open to all ages and will take place from 7:00 pm-9:00 pm on September 18th. The venue is the Sandhills Bank Amphitheater at 150 Citizens Circle in Little River, SC.

Bruce Munro at Brookgreen: Southern Light – May through September

This ongoing Brookgreen Gardens exhibit will have its last day on September 12th, so for anyone visiting during the first half of the month this is a great way to spend the evening! Enjoy an immersive experience in art and light as artist Bruce Munro displays his spectacular large-scale light sculptures to the gardens. Visitors will see Brookgreen in a new light! The exhibit will feature even works of art, light, and mixed media, each designed specifically for the natural garden room they will be installed. Music on Main Concert Series – May through September

 Journey to downtown North Myrtle Beach to delight in the sounds of a live band on Main Street. This event is fun for all ages and they are encouraging families to come downtown after work or a long day on the beach to experience the many restaurants, listen to music, shop, and dance! Admission is free but don’t forget to bring your beach chair to kick back and relax. The concert series will take place every Thursday in September from 7:00 pm-9:00 pm. Special Focus Program – International Vulture Awareness Day – September 5

Enjoy an educational morning learning about the underappreciated avian scavengers, vultures. How can they eat rotting meat without getting sick? Why don’t they have feathers on their heads? Learn about how declines in vultures are impacting human health and what you can do to protect them in your neighborhood. You will even get to meet native vultures up close and personal during a scavenger focused flight demonstration. NASCAR Night of Champions Race – September 12

 Head on out to the Myrtle Beach Speedway on September 12th  for a night of fun! Watch many different races including NASCAR late models, chargers, mini stocks, vintage cars, super trucks, and more. Socastee Heritage Festival – September 12

 The Myrtle Beach community of Socastee is sponsoring a free family event offering fun children’s activities, 100+ vendors, 3 entertainment stages, and lots more. This event is hosted by the nonprofit Socastee Heritage Foundation and 100% of proceeds will go back into the Socastee community to help families and children. The event will take place on Peachtree Road in Socastee from 10:00 am-5:00 pm on September 12th.

Zookeeper For The Day at Brookgreen Gardens – September 16

 Is your child an animal lover? How about taking them to Brookgreen Gardens to be a Zookeeper for the day! This event is taking place on September 16th from 8:30 am-2:00 pm. Guests age 12 and older gain a firsthand look at working in a zoo and spend the day helping zookeepers with their daily routine of feeding, cleaning, and animal care. 6th Annual Carolina Country Music Festival – September 17-20

Are you ready to party? Myrtle Beach’s Annual Carolina Country Music festival has been rescheduled for September 17th – 20th and we can’t wait!  Enjoy over 30 of country music’s hottest artists including Luke Combs, Eric Church, Darius Rucker, and Jake Owen. Myrtle Beach Mustang Week 

You don’t have to own a Mustang to be able to enjoy Myrtle Beach Mustang Week, that’s for sure! Come on out and enjoy all of the events during the week of September 2nd – 8th and be a part of contests, cruise-ins, and other fun happenings. This is the 16th year it is taken place and has become the East Coast’s largest Mustang week! The locations and times for the events vary each day so be sure to check out the week’s schedule here

Dog Days Blues and Jazz Festival – September 16

While the “dog days of summer” are drifting away, this blues and jazz festival sure brings the heat! Located just north at the La Belle Amie Vineyard in Little River, the Dog Days Blues and Jazz Festival is happening Saturday, September 14th from 12pm-5pm. This festival features live entertainment from local performers, seasonal wine samples, and complimentary tours of the beautifully scenic vineyard. Bring your blankets and chairs and come relax for an afternoon filled with great music and great memories. Tickets for this event are $10 but you can receive $2 off by bringing 2 canned food items. Art In The Park at Valor Park – September 19-20

Art in the Park is an artist-run event, held 3 weekends a year here in Myrtle Beach. It is a popular destination for both artists and customers and displays locally made paintings, sculptures, woodworking, photography, jewelry, fabric, glass, metal, pottery, stone, mixed media works, and more! Enjoy walking around and browsing these beautiful visual art items. Admission is free and Art in the Park is taking place on September 19th – 20th from 10:0 0am to 4:00 pm at Valor Park in Market Common. Aynor Harvest Hoe-Down Festival – September 19

Attend the 41st Annual Aynor Harvest Hoe-Down Festival on September 19th from 9:00 am-5:30 pm in Aynor, South Carolina for a day of fun! This festival includes hundreds of arts, crafts, food vendors, a parade, musical entertainment, and children’s entertainment. Admission is free and the parade begins at 10 am and musical entertainment at 11 am. It is located at the Aynor Town Park at 600 South Main Street, Aynor, SC. Run to the Sun Car Show – September 24-26

The 32nd Annual Run to the Sun Car Show has been rescheduled for September 24th, 25th, and 26th. Come on out to the Old Myrtle Square Mall Site and enjoy a wonderful weekend with thousands of car enthusiasts at the largest independent car show on the east coast! Atalaya Arts & Crafts Festival – September 25-27

Take a short drive down to Huntington Beach State Park September 25th – 27th for the 45th Annual Atalaya Arts & Crafts Festival. Huntington Beach State Park is known for its beautiful Atalaya Castle, the historic winter home of Mr. and Mrs. Huntington. The Arts & Crafts Festival takes place around the castle and a fun-filled event for all ages. Enjoy fine art, crafts, delicious food, and live music from the Grand Strand’s best musicians! Myrtle Beach Pelicans Baseball | Ongoing

Looking to take the family out for a night out on the town? If so, look no farther than the Myrtle Beach Pelicans! This local affiliate of the Chicago Cubs is a fun and affordable way to enjoy a bit of quality time together while on vacation. The Pelicans play all summer long and host several events throughout the week to keep guests entertained.

Sounds of Summer Concert Series: May 15 – September 18

Enjoy an evening with your family and friends listening to live music under the stars at the Sandhills Bank Amphitheater. Each concert will feature a different band playing great music appropriate for the entire family. Snacks and drinks will be available for purchase. Be sure to bring your beach chair and blanket! This event is on Fridays from 7:00 pm-9:00 pm and free/open to all ages. Sandhills Bank Amphitheater is located at 150 Citizens Circle in Little River, SC.

Sun Fun Festival | May 29-31

Long-time beachgoers will remember this Myrtle Beach tradition! The Sun Fun Festival was an annual beach even for more than 50 years until 2011 when the event was put on hiatus. After a great 3-year-running extravaganza, the festival is back and promises to be bigger and better than ever!

Festival events will include tons of live entertainment, the Sun Fun Parade (Saturday, 10 am along Ocean Boulevard), beach games and competitions, shag lessons and dance competitions, live music, family-friendly games and activities, fireworks, and more!

This event is free to attend and runs all weekend long.

Hot Summer Nights | Myrtle Beach Boardwalk | June 12 – September 4

Looking for a fun, affordable family entertainment? If so, look no farther than the Hot Summer Nights festival that takes place throughout the summer along the bustling Myrtle Beach Boardwalk. This annual event features several weekly events for families, all of which are completely free to attend! Last year, this summer event included free concerts, a weekly Kids’ Carnival, roaming street entertainment, kids’ games, activities, and much more. Simply head down to the Myrtle Beach Boardwalk between June 12th – September 4th from 8-11 pm to see what all the buzz is about!

Brookgreen Art Festival: June 6-7

Enjoy a two-day art festival in beautiful Brookgreen Gardens. This event brings together local and regional artists and authors to showcase their fine craftsmanship and quality art. North Inlet Paddle: June 9 – September 4

Interested in a morning on the water? Reserve your spot for a naturalist-guided tour through the North Inlet estuary. The price is $60/person and this includes all equipment, instruction in basic kayaking, a natural history overview, and educational and research highlights of the North Inlet ecosystem. Myrtle Beach Nationals Car, Truck, and Bike Show: June 12-14

Located at the Myrtle Beach Speedway, the Myrtle Beach Nationals Car, Truck, and Bike show a 3-day event full of unique cars, burnout competitions, truck games, tailgate parties, a live DJ, and a swimsuit contest. Brookgreen Gardens Summer Music Festival | Ongoing

Bring your best beach chair to Brookgreen Gardens weekly at 7 pm throughout the summer for concerts under the oak trees! The Summer Music Festival is a leisurely, ongoing event complete with the tunes of some of the area’s best bands. Enjoy singing, dancing, and grab some light refreshments while you’re there. Brookgreen Gardens Summer Music Festival takes place Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evening from June 19 – August 7. Admission to the festival is free with garden admission.

Monster Truck Beach Devastation: June 20-21

Feel the earth shake and hear the thunder rumble at Myrtle Beach’s Monster Truck Beach Devastation 2020! See incredible 10,000-pound giants compete in racing, wheelie contests, and then rock the house with amazing freestyle action. Check out the pit party to see the trucks up close and personal and get pictures. This event is taking place at the Myrtle Beach Speedway June 20th – 21st from 4:00 pm-9:00 pm. International Mud Day Hike: June 29

What better way to celebrate International Mud Day than to hike in South Carolina’s famous Pluff Mud? Join the North Inlet-Winyah Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve for a fun and educational hike through the North Inlet salt marsh trail. Learn about the salt marsh ecosystem and the plants and animals that inhabit it. This mud day hike will take place at 22 Hobcaw Road in Georgetown, SC on June 29th from 10:00 am-12:30 pm. Fishes of North Inlet: July 1-31

Searching for a fun, free, and educational event for your family? This one’s for you! Head out to the North Inlet-Winyah Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve in Georgetown, SC to watch scientists pull a seine in a tidal creek. This catch is then carried back to a seawater laboratory where everybody helps sort, identify, and measure the collection of fish, shrimp, and crabs. Old clothes are recommended. It is limited to 10 people ages 10 and up so be sure to call 843-904-9017 to reserve your time and spot.

July 4th in Myrtle Beach

Myrtle Beach is the place to be on July 4th! From festive family activities and boat parades to foodie events and fireworks, there is plenty to do during this patriotic event. Here are a few events that your family can enjoy that weekend:

  • Murrells Inlet Boat Parade (Saturday, July 4th) – The parade begins at the Garden City Point and ends in Murrells Inlet. This year’s parade will begin at 9 am.
  • Independence Day Cookout (Saturday, July 4th) – La Belle Amie Vineyard is hosting their annual 4th of July cookout on Saturday this year at the vineyard. The event will include live entertainment, complimentary wine samples, and plenty of food available for purchase. Admission is $7.
  • Fireworks (Saturday, July 4th) – Guests can find 4th of July Fireworks at Broadway at the Beach, Barefoot Landing, Murrells Inlet, and Cherry Grove Pier.

Zookeeper for the Day: July 15 – November 18

A great event for kids, former Duke University and NBA player, Will Avery, will host a basketball camp at the Myrtle Beach Sports Center July 27th-31st from 9:00 am-3:00 pm. This event is open to boys and girls ages 6-15 and space is limited so sign up early! The cost is $250 for full camp and $150 for a half-day. Each camper will receive a t-shirt. Tobacco Heritage Day: August 1

Celebrate life on the family farm from 1900-1955. This popular annual event features various demonstrations throughout the day including gathering and stringing tobacco, grinding grits in the grist mill, blacksmithing, woodworking, and cooking on the wood-burning stove. This event is taking place on August 1st at the L.W. Paul Living History Farm at 2279 Harris Short Cut Road in Conway, SC from 9:00 am-3:00 pm.

Craftsmen’s Summer Classic Art & Craft Festival: August 7-9

Channel your inner creativity at the 2020 Craftsmen’s Summer Classic Art & Craft Festival! This festival features original designs and work from hundreds of talented artists and craftspeople from across America. Carolina Country Music Fest | September 17-20

Water Lantern Festival | TBA

The Water Lantern Festival is a one of a kind event for you to see thousands of hand-designed lanterns light up the night. This family-friendly event offers you a chance to write down your hopes, dreams, or letters to loved ones and send them out with thousands of others. Tickets start at $25 (tickets increase as the festival date approaches) and include a lantern, marker, commemorative drawstring back, and more. Festival-goers will enter at 5:30 pm and enjoy music, food, and entertainment until the lanterns are launched at 9 pm.
