Couple having fun at Myrtle Beach in the Winter

While Myrtle Beach is most known for warm weather, beautiful beaches, and is a top summer vacation destination, the fun surely doesn’t stop when the weather cools down! For many guests, the winter months are their favorite time to visit the Grand Strand due to the decrease in crowds and lower lodging/attraction rates. Swimming in the ocean might be the one thing you can’t do when visiting Myrtle Beach in the winter but the other possibilities are endless!

One of our favorite things to do once winter hits is to check out the awesome holiday shows and activities that Myrtle Beach offers. For an evening full of holiday music, dancing, and singing along we recommend checking out The Carolina Opry, Alabama Theatre, or Legends in Concert. If you are in the mood for a more quiet and romantic night, check out Brookgreen Garden’s Night of a Thousand Candles. For the action and thrill-seeker who also loves good food, Pirate’s Voyage Christmas show is the one for you. And last but certainly not least, check out Myrtle Beach’s newest Christmas show, Christmas on Ice, which features World Champion ice skaters!

Another great thing to take advantage of in the winter when crowds are small is exploring Broadway at the Beach. From delicious restaurant options to awesome shopping, there is something for everyone! A great kid’s activity where you can let their imagination run wild is Wonderworks, or check out the Hollywood Wax Museum right across the street. Just make sure to bring a jacket and some comfy shoes for all the walking around!

Ripley’s has 4 awesome attractions in the Myrtle Beach area, which stay pretty packed during the peak season. Enjoy limited crowds and more time to explore each of them during the winter months. Our all-time favorite Ripley’s attraction is Ripley’s Aquarium. This happens to be located at Broadway at the Beach and is a blast for all ages. Known as “The Strangest Place in Myrtle Beach” is Ripley’s Believe It Or Not which features different weird and wacky exhibits. For the dare-devil, we recommend Ripley’s Haunted Adventure or Marvelous Mirror Maze. You can’t go wrong with whichever you chose!

Coral Beach’s own newly designed Entertainment Center will have you enjoying hours of fun without having to leave the hotel (or brave the cold)! It includes 8 AMF lanes of bowling, exciting arcade games, an ice cream shop, and beverages for all ages.

Whichever month you decide to visit Myrtle Beach, we can assure you that there will never be a shortage of fun. The winter may not be as warm, but we don’t see that stopping anyone! Wanting even more winter activity ideas? Check out our Top 20 Things To Do in the Winter post.

Couple enjoy a jetski rentals Myrtle Beach

It’s never too early to start planning next summer’s Myrtle Beach vacation! A lot of thought goes into what activities your family will choose to do during your stay and one of our favorite activities to recommend our guest are jet-ski rentals! Jet skis are a great way to cool, catch some speed, and explore the beautiful Grand Strand waters. Whether you choose your jet-ski rental to be winding through the different canals of the Waccamaw River, or prefer to ride the waves up and down the Atlantic Ocean coastline you really can’t go wrong! We have put together a list of the top Jet Ski rentals in Myrtle Beach to ensure your family is getting the best watersport experience!

Myrtle Beach Watersports

Myrtle Beach Watersports has 2 different locations depending on what Jet Ski rental experience you are looking for. Their Myrtle Beach location (8201 Marina Parkway) is great for those who are looking to get some speed and have 20 miles of free-riding space! Enjoy less boat traffic, no sand bars, a wide riding space, and no “No Wake” zones to slow you down. If you are interested in the 2-hour dolphin excursion, the North Myrtle Beach location is your best option (Harbourgate Marina). This location is closer to the ocean giving you a more scenic ride and more time to find a view dolphin. Rentals start at $125.00 and you can visit the Myrtle Beach Watersports website for more information. Drivers must be at least 16 years old with a valid driver’s license.

Downwind Sails Watersport

Downwind Sails has been providing jet-ski rentals to the Grand Strand since 1978. Harvest elements on Myrtle Beach in October

One of our favorite things about Myrtle Beach in the fall, especially in October, is how you still get the feel of a “summer vacay” but without the large crowds and high humidity. Even more, the October activities and events happening along the Grand Strand are some of our favorites of the year! Here’s everything you need to know about Myrtle Beach in October –take a look!

Is Myrtle Beach warm in October?

Let’s get right to the punch, the short answer is YES! While there are usually a handful of considerable cooler days within the month, the average temperature for Myrtle Beach in October is a beautiful 75°F and the water stays around the low 70’s. Did we mention that we usually only have around 5 days of rain throughout the entire month? (But in case of rain, here are a few fun things to do during rainy days.) We’re not sure about you, but we’d take sunny and 75° over humid and 105° any day!

What are some reasons to visit Myrtle Beach in October?

Aside from the beautiful weather, one of our other top reasons for a Myrtle Beach vacation in October is the smaller crowd size. There is a whole lot to do in our wonderful little beach town, but sometimes the lines are just too long to get to do it all during our busy summer months. October is a great time to visit if you are looking for a more relaxed feel and the ability to make dinner or event reservations more last minute.

Here are a few other reasons to visit during October:

What is there to do in October?

Since 70° water might be a little cool for some swimmers, October is the perfect month to get out and explore the parts of the Grand Strand you haven’t seen before. Take a stroll through the La Amie Vineyard in Little River or visit Atalaya Castle down in Huntington Beach State Park.

This month features tons of Myrtle Beach fall festivals and events such as Myrtle Beach Oktoberfest, St. John’s Greek Festival, The Hippie Fest, Art in the Park, Boofest at Barefoot Landing, and tons of other Halloween festivities along the Grand Strand.

Lastly, you can never go wrong with visiting one of the outdoor shopping, dining, and entertainment centers: Broadway at the Beach, Market Common, or Barefoot Landing.

Flyboard or Wakeboard in Myrtle Beach

If you’re looking for a fun way to make a splash and cool down, a flyboard or wakeboard rental is an adventure for you! Visit Island Adventure Watersports located just off Hwy 17 in Myrtle Beach for their Fly and Wakeboarding rental experience. Their US Coast Guard Captained Staff will take you on a memorable trip on the scenic Waccamaw River. Up to 6 guests will ride on a brand new 21’ Super Air Nautique Professional Wakeboarding Boat, where you’ll be challenged in a fun and exciting ride. Wakeboards are very similar to a surfboard being pulled behind a boat, and you’ll be able to attempt various acrobatic maneuvers including jumps, dips, turns, and dives. For flyboarding, you’ll be water jet-propelled and fly in the air like a bird and then dive in the water like a dolphin. You’ll use power from jet skis, and the board will take you high up in the sky for the ride of your life. This new extreme water sport allows you to fly over the water, under the water, or fly freestyle as you learn to control your experience. Visit Island Adventure Watersport’s website for even more information and to book your watersport experience today!
