Myrtle Beach Spring Break

02/08/2023

March along the Grand Strand means a Myrtle Beach spring break is on the way, and with it comes warmer weather and spring’s cheerful blossoms, lively activities, dining alfresco, and fun events.

Temperatures reach about 80 degrees during the months of March and April in Myrtle Beach, with an average of only five rainy days in both months. We might be a little biased, but we believe a Myrtle Beach spring break getaway is the perfect excuse to travel! From waters ports to late-night dancing, here is a list of our favorite Myrtle Beach spring break activities, dining, shopping, and nightlife.

Myrtle Beach Spring Break Activities

Kayaking in Myrtle Beach

While spring might still be a bit cool for a dip in the ocean, kayaking is a great way to be on the water without getting too wet. See a side of the Grand Strand that most tourists miss completely when you view it from the water. The area boasts many kayaking companies, but we recommend tours by Black River Outdoors.

Their Sandy Island/Cypress Swamp Tour winds guests through portions of the Waccamaw River to see birds, turtles, and even alligators, and includes a 45-minute island stop. Their Salt Marsh Tour, Huntington Beach State Park Tour, and Full Moon Tour all take guests through the salt marsh of Murrells Inlet and toward the jetties. Tours range from 2–4 hours. Visit their website for tour details, rates, and to book your spring break adventure.

Meet-up locations are near the Waccamaw River in Myrtle Beach, Murrells Inlet, and Conway and vary for each tour. Call (843) 546-4840 for more information.

The SkyWheel

This Myrtle Beach icon is definitely one you need to check out during your spring break visit. The SkyWheel towers nearly 200 feet over the Atlantic Ocean and gives you a view of miles of the coast. You can take in vistas of the beautiful Myrtle Beach Boardwalk and ocean with your family even if the spring weather is cool, thanks to the SkyWheel’s fully enclosed, climate-controlled gondolas. The SkyWheel is open daily all year around at 11:00 a.m., and specialty experiences, like VIP rides and Sunrise Flights are also available. Purchase tickets online or at the box office on-site.

The SkyWheel is located at 1110 N. Ocean Boulevard, Myrtle Beach, just 1.7 miles from Coral Beach Resort & Suites.

Golf in Myrtle Beach

It wouldn’t be spring break in Myrtle Beach without teeing up at one of the area’s top golf courses. The Grand Strand is known for its celebrity-designed courses, and with more than 75 to choose from, you really can’t go wrong golfing in Myrtle Beach! This is a great daytime activity, especially in the south’s beautiful spring weather.

If you’re traveling with family on your Myrtle Beach spring break getaway, many courses allow kids to play for free. Call each course to learn more.

Topgolf

For even more golfing fun, check out Topgolf Myrtle Beach this spring break. Practice your swing and long drive playing interactive games, and enjoy time with friends. Each bay will accommodate a group of 6 for dinner, drinks, and golfing, and additional bays may be reserved for larger groups.

Numerous tables and lounge areas afford views of golfing bays and TVs throughout the venue to make sure you don’t miss a thing. Topgolf also features a rooftop terrace with a fire pit. Hours and pricing vary by season and number of guests. Visit their website to view packages, pricing, and book your bay in advance.

Local Tip: Visit Topgolf on a Tuesday for half-priced gameplay!

Myrtle Beach Paddle Boarding

Another great way to enjoy Myrtle Beach waterways in the spring is on a stand-up paddleboard. Local company Jack’s Surf Lessons provides lessons, tours, and rentals for stand-up paddleboards. Two-hour lessons provide you with fundamentals for paddling and balancing, guaranteeing you will be up and paddling by the end of the class. Semi-private lessons are $85 per person, but group discounts are available. Guided tours are $55 per person and last two hours along the scenic marshes of Murrells Inlet or the Waccamaw River at sunrise or sunset (your choice). To embark on your own Myrtle Beach adventure during spring break, rent a SUP. Rentals include the paddleboard, paddle, and leash. Prices range from $25 per hour to $75 per day (multi-day discounts available).

Jack’s Surfing Lessons are located at 3200 S. Ocean Boulevard (on the north side of the Springmaid Pier), less than 2 miles from Coral Beach Resort. Meeting places for paddleboard tours are dependent on the weather, tide, and conditions, and are arranged at the time of the tours. Call (843) 647-7471 for more information.
