Summer is finally here! We know you and your family must be ready for beautiful weather, dips in the ocean, the smell of sunscreen, cooking out and all the fun events Myrtle Beach has to offer! While the options are plentiful, we’ve made it easier for you to choose which events to get out and explore this weekend. Here is our list of Myrtle Beach’s top summer events for 2021.

Myrtle Beach Pelicans Baseball | May 4th – Sept. 19th

Looking to take the family out for a night out on the town? Look no further than the Myrtle Beach Pelicans! This local affiliate of the Chicago Cubs is a fun and affordable way to enjoy a bit of quality time together while on vacation. The Pelicans play all summer long and host several events throughout the week.

Special Weekly Promotions Include:

  • $2 Tacos & Tallboys – $2 Tacos and $2 16oz cans from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
  • Weiner Wednesday – Hebrew National hot dogs are BOGO FREE throughout the game
  • Thirsty Thursday – $1 12oz Bud & Bud Light cans and $2 glasses of Duplin Winery wine until 8:00 p.m.
  • Family Friday + Fireworks – $25 Meal Deal with 4 hot dogs, 4 soft drinks and a bucket of popcorn; post-game Fireworks Extravaganza each week
  • Sippin’ Saturdays – $1 12oz. Bud & Bud Light cans, $2 glasses of Duplin Winery wine and $25 mega-mug mixed drinks (64oz.) until 7:00 p.m.

Additionally, the Pelicans host different theme nights throughout the week and host between-inning games to keep the crowd entertained. Tickets start as low as $11 each and can be purchased online.

Myrtle Beach Scavenger Hunt: Piers, Parks, & Plenty of Fun | On-going

Looking for a group activity to keep the whole family entertained? Check out the Myrtle Beach Scavenger Hunt! This fun-filled loop takes you on an adventure exploring Myrtle Beach’s history and landmarks on and off the beach. Experience our city like never before! Snap photos, race against the clock and put your navigation skills to the test all at your own pace. This scavenger hunt is app-led by Let’s Roam, so no reservations or tour guides are required. Sun Fun Festival | June 4th – 6th

Long-time beachgoers will remember this Myrtle Beach tradition. The Sun Fun Festival is back for its 65th year and promises to be bigger and better than ever!

Festival events will include tons of live entertainment, the Sun Fun Parade (Saturday, 10 a.m. along Ocean Boulevard), the Sand Sculpture Competition and more. Head to Plyler Park for this FREE event that runs all weekend long!

Summer Light: Art By Night | June 9th – Aug. 21st

Created by the same talented team that brings you Nights of a Thousand Candles, Brookgreen Gardens is proud to announce their new summer event – Summer Light: Art By Night. This artistic evening event features nine lighted installations throughout the gardens giving guests a new perspective on the landscapes, sculptures and galleries at Brookgreen. Each evening of the event will feature live musical performances in the Pegasus field, plus a local food truck and snow cone vendor for your enjoyment. Carolina Country Music Fest | June 10th – 13th

Pack your cowboy boots and grab tickets to the biggest country music festival the beach has ever seen! Get ready for four days of action-packed, live entertainment at Pavilion Park featuring some of the industry’s biggest stars. Headliners include Luke Combs, Eric Church, Darius Rucker, Jake Owen and many more. This 6th annual event will also host an impressive array of local souvenir and food vendors to keep you busy between shows. Tickets are available online and reservations at Coral Beach are still available – located just 2 miles from the festival 

Hot Summer Nights | June 17th – Sept. 6th

Looking for fun, affordable family entertainment? Look no further than the Hot Summer Nights festival taking place throughout the summer. This annual event features live entertainment and family-friendly activities every night of the week, all of which are completely FREE to attend! The 2021 schedule includes glow parties, karaoke nights, beach parties and live music. See the live entertainment schedule on the Myrtle Beach Boardwalk Facebook page. Events run nightly from 7:00 – 10:00 p.m. at Plyler Park located at 10th Avenue N between Ocean Blvd. and the Myrtle Beach Boardwalk.

Sounds of Summer Concert Series | June 18th – Sept. 17th

Enjoy an evening with your family and friends listening to live music under the stars at the Sounds of Summer Concert Series. Each concert is FREE and will feature a different band playing great music appropriate for the entire family. Snacks and drinks will be available for purchase. Be sure to bring your own beach chair and blanket! This event takes place on the third Friday of each month from 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. Concerts are held at the Sandhills Bank Amphitheater, located at 150 Citizens Circle in Little River, SC at the North Myrtle Beach Park and Sports Complex.

Independence Day in Myrtle Beach | July 4th

Myrtle Beach is the place to be on July 4th! From festive family activities and boat parades to foodie events and fireworks, there is plenty to do during this patriotic event. Here are a few events that your family can enjoy during the Fourth of July weekend:

  • Murrells Inlet Boat Parade (Sunday, July 4th) – The boat parade begins at the Garden City Point, runs through the Inlet and ends at Morse Park Landing. This year’s parade starts at 3:00 p.m.
  • Pawleys Island Golf Cart Parade (Sunday, July 4th) – The cart parade will run along the south end of Pawleys Island down Myrtle Avenue. It starts at 10:00 a.m.
  • Independence Day 5K Race (Saturday, July 3rd) – This annual patriotic race will take place in Market Commons. Registration will be open until Friday, July 2nd at 1:00 p.m.
  • Fireworks (Sunday, July 4th) – Guests can find 4th of July Fireworks at Broadway at the Beach, Barefoot Landing, Murrells Inlet MarshWalk, the Myrtle Beach Boardwalk and Cherry Grove Pier.

Zookeeper for the Day| July 21st – Nov. 17th

Is your child an animal lover? Consider taking them to Brookgreen Gardens to be a Zookeeper for the day! This event is taking place on the 3rd Wednesday of each month now through November. Kids ages 12 and older have the chance to gain a firsthand look at what working at a zoo is like while spending the day helping Brookgreen’s zookeepers with their daily routines of feeding, cleaning and animal care. Summer Heat Wave MB Nationals: Truck, Car and Bike Show| July 23rd – 25th – Cancelled

Previously located at the Myrtle Beach Speedway, the Summer Heat Wave MB Nationals: Truck, Car and Bike Show is a 3-day event full of unique cars, burnout competitions, truck games, tailgate parties, a live DJ, numerous food and merchandise vendors and a swimsuit contest. The Spring Break Nationals event that took place in March was moved to the Florence Motor Speedway, due to the closing of the Myrtle Beach Speedway in August 2020. This summer’s event has been cancelled. Please check the Florence Motor Speedway website for information regarding the 2022 MB Nationals.

North Inlet Paddle | Aug. 3rd & 17th and Sept. 2nd & 16th

Interested in a morning on the water? Reserve your spot for a naturalist-guided tour through the North Inlet estuary. The price is $60/person and runs from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Pricing includes all equipment, instruction in basic kayaking, a natural history overview, and educational and research highlights of the North Inlet ecosystem. Be sure to wear sturdy shoes and to bring water, snacks and binoculars! Reservations are required and space is limited. Tobacco Heritage Day| Aug. 7th

Step back in time and experience family farm life from 1900-1955. Tobacco Heritage Day is a chance to remember the history and heritage of our local area and experience first-hand what it was like to work on a tobacco farm in Conway, SC. This popular annual event features various demonstrations throughout the day including gathering and stringing tobacco, grinding grits in the gristmill, blacksmithing, woodworking and cooking on the wood-burning stove. The event will take place at the L.W. Paul Living History Farm at 2279 Harris Short Cut Road in Conway from 9:00 a.m. – noon. Find more information at the Horry County Museum website.

Craftsmen’s Classic™ Art & Craft Festival | Aug. 20th – 22nd

Channel your inner creativity at the 2021 Craftsmen’s Classic™ Art & Craft Festival! This award-winning festival features original designs and works of art from hundreds of talented artists and craftspeople from across America. The event will include live demonstrations and artistic styles ranging from traditional to contemporary. No matter your style, taste, or budget – there is something for you! This summer show will take place at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center Friday through Sunday. Hours are 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Fri. & Sat. and 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Sun. Water Lantern Festival | TBD

The Water Lantern Festival is a one-of-a-kind event where you can see thousands of hand-designed lanterns light up the night. This family-friendly event offers you a chance to write down your hopes, dreams or letters to loved ones and send them out with thousands of others. Tickets start at $25 (tickets increase as the festival date approaches) and include a lantern, marker, commemorative drawstring bag and more. Festival-goers will enjoy music, food and entertainment throughout the evening until the lanterns are launched at 9 pm.
